At Sherwood Auto Repair, it's not just about fixing cars. Owner Scott LaPlante and his team strive to set high standards for local families, overcoming the negative experiences many have had with mechanics.
LaPlante's father founded Sherwood Auto Repair in 1986 in Old Town Sherwood. Now in Tualatin, the shop has served the community for nearly 38 years. Handling all makes and models from 2000 onward, Sherwood Auto Repair aims to surpass the poor reputation of the mechanic industry.
With a motto like "drive worry-free," Sherwood Auto Repair adheres to principles of trust, integrity, and improvement. These principles are displayed at the front counter as a reminder to all. As a second-generation owner, LaPlante continues the family tradition of building multigenerational relationships with customers.
"We're community-based; that's our prime demographic," LaPlante said. "We want people to keep their cars and build long-term relationships with customers." Positive reviews and word of mouth bring many to Sherwood Auto Repair, even with its prominent location on Tualatin-Sherwood Road.
Beyond creating a loyal customer base, Sherwood Auto Repair fosters a community-minded atmosphere in the shop. "It's about building careers for our team. We want to create a place where people enjoy working," LaPlante said. And they have succeeded.
Katie Harms, who started sweeping floors, quickly advanced to fixing cars and is now transitioning to a service advisor. She helps new and returning customers schedule appointments and understand necessary maintenance.
